MANHATTAN – Yesterday, former child actress Dakota Fanning stepped into D’Agostino’s for milk and left with the knowledge of her own pregnancy.

Fanning, 18, scanned the cover of US Weekly at the checkout only to discover a familiar face – her own.

“At first, I thought I was looking at my sister, Elle,” said the mommy-to-be. “I was so excited for her! And then I realized it was me.”

Though currently enrolled at NYU, there are large gaps in Fanning’s education, due to a youth spent starring in feature films. As a result, her knowledge of sex education is slim.

The paternity of the child is still in question. “Maybe the father is Sean Penn. Can you get pregnant from starring in a movie with someone?” Fanning asked of her I Am Sam co-star.

While Penn is an unlikely choice, speculation does include Ryan Lochte, Justin Bieber, and Fanning’s Twilight co-star Robert Pattinson.

“Since Breaking Dawn – Part 2 wrapped, they’ve been inseparable,” reports a source close to Pattinson. “When Kristen cheated on him, Dakota was there to pick up the pieces.”

Despite her young age, Fanning’s camp believes she’s up to the task of raising a child.

“Her previous roles prepared her well for motherhood, especially Uptown Girls, Charlotte’s Web and Man on Fire ,” stated George Freeman, her agent.
