BROOKLYN – Shawn “Jay-Z” Carter was caught yesterday by The Rap Insider on Tumblr, scrolling teary-eyed through pseudo-artistic photos with superimposed quasi-inspirational quotes.

This reporter witnessed Jay-Z giggling before reblogging an animated gif of Millionaire Matchmaker Patti Stanger.

Apparently, this behavior is routine for Hova.

“He spent hours on Tumblr while we worked on Watch The Throne ,” said collaborator Kanye West. “He’s inspired by what today’s youth is doing with Photoshop.”

“I try not to get upset when he goes on Tumblr, I just give him his alone time,” added Jay-Z’s wife Beyoncé. “He keeps a folder of his favorite images on our desktop.”

It started with photos of things like sunsets, landscapes and city skylines, always paired with misattributed quotes and words of wisdom. Now, rumors are circulating that Jay-Z has also started making memes and watching cat videos.

“I like the way it makes me feel and the new friends I’ve made,” admitted Jay-Z. “Tumblr taught me to never let go of my dreams, to hold on to whatever keeps me warm inside and to follow my heart, because it knows the way.”

Should we be on the lookout for a personal Tumblr account from the rapper himself?

“I’d rather fail blindly than live in conscious curiosity,” he said.

We think that’s a maybe.
