Filling bubbler with water
Due to water filtration your hits become smoother and will be less harsh on your throat, but your bubbler will not function properly, if right water amount is not poured. To achieve the optimal amount of water levels is a bit tricky, and depends on appearance of the bubbler.
Clear or any light colored bubblers can have parts that are easily identifiable, but dark glass having multiple chambers are little challenging. Following are few things to consider while filling your bubbler:
1. Down-stem
Make sure that your down-stem is fully submerged. The thumb rule is to get it filled about 3/4 of inch submerged.
2. Percolators
For percolator or any diffused down-stem, ensure that your water level is above slits on percolator, so that it works properly.
3. Drag
After you fill your bubbler with water, try to take hit without any herb for few times to get a feel of the drag. If water level is too high, you will get splash back and it will be quite difficult to pull.
Also with too little water, you cannot produce enough bubbles. You must remember, more the bubbles, smoother will be your hit, because of surface area of your smoke.
4. Smoke
If you are still feeling your smoke harsh, then you need to add more water. If it feels little stale, then you must have poured too much.
All bubblers will be different and no same water amount can be put every time. You need to practice by trying different levels, then feel the hits until you get perfect level.
